View Full Version : Battlefield: Bad Company
hmmm well to be honest guys i dont no where to start, its good, but weird at the same time, I think they have tried to adopt a few things off of COD 4.
EG - the running, the movement of ALL wepons, the AI, and just the general layout of the game.
It all just seems to COD 4 ey, dont get me wrong i loved running after the insurgents blowing though a wal in the house to get out the other side.
Sniper - Prob the best aspect about the game, as all houses, trees, cars practicaly anything and everything can be blown up it creates somegood hiding spots. And depending what rifle you use you can pick em off from a good distance away.
All in all if you can get over some of the very much noticalbe COD 4 bits then yeah it is a good game, but for the many who doesnt like COD 4 then you dont need to buy BF: Bad Company as it is ok for a happy hour of gameing but it will never touch ETQW!!!!

HAve bought and played the single player through . Good fun game , in the style of COD:MW2 . The plot is fairly standard fps fare , a bit thin but entertaining all the same . Cinematographic with lots of cut-scenes to fill out the story . Play style is you and your 3 mates moving forward as a squad of 4 with sarge being the architypical tough guy of few words . It is aim down sights style, get into position to take out the baddie getting in your way . Lots of weapon choices , but I found I needed only 2 or 3 , the sniper being useful . There are helicopter scenes much like HL2 where you run from cover to cover to get two hits off . Walls , trees and buildings are destroyable so cover is not everlasting . I don't think it added much to the single player though its fun to blast it all away :D I haven't played too many single player games recently and I have to say I enjoyed playing both this and COD:MW2 and not least because of the well presented story elements (even if the plots are thin , B-Movie style).
I have played maybe 2 hours of multiplayer and cannot really say what it is like as yet . I am still trying to get to know the maps etc . It certainly has potential although in a rather different style than ETQW . Big maps without the closed in feel of COD. I will let you know.....................

Add me Eamon "Officetrolley" i can show u around a few of the maps been playing since release and loving it :D
btw u can adjust ur fov in this bf release which is very useful for us q engine players just remember it is vertical fov in bf not horizontal fov like we had in qw, et, rtcw etc the numbers are lower but try around 65-75 should do u ok ;)
Will do when I get back to UK m8.
Ok, so I have been playing BF:Bad Company 2 for a bit now , and I got to say it is fun .I was expecting it to be very much like COD:MW2 and I am pleasantly surprised . Yes there is aim-down-sight and the movement is different to old school RTCW but this is not COD . The squad based system, points for support class actions (healing, ammo supply etc ) encourage teamplay . Be in a squad with 3 other mates and it is very good fun . You can spawn in on your squad mates if they are alive and that is a tactic that needs to be well used . There is , however, the ever present cadre of snipers who feel their only job is to stay well back from the action and snipe , thus making the spawn in feature on them useless as well as being generally useless to their team effort.
There is a lot going on in game, noise, explosions , vehicles etc . Squads need to work together and use the tools given to them (motion trackers, med and ammo kits etc) to advance. And you need to advance carefully and thouroughly , taking out enemy positions and clearing buildings . My personal favourite game mode is rush . One team defends whilst the other team have to blow up two stations before they run out of lives to move on to next two . It makes for a more focused gameplay in my opinion .
To be effective as the rest you need to spend some time getting the upgraded weapons and sights , medkits and defibrillators etc . The main ones come early on , so it isn't long before you can be helpful to your team . Medic is easiest to play initially to get feel for the game and also easier to make points for upgrades but you will soon start to appreciate the other classes . If anyone wants to add me to friends list in BF (EA's own in game system) my name is Dr..Death (with 2 fullstops , coz some fecker got my name before me :/)
Added Dr.Death :))))))
