kept for me to use for even more geekery :p

totally off topic:

I have a few googlewave invites to give away . If you post something useful to this thread and ask for an invite , I may be persuaded to part with one :) (OMS players only please)

I am going to need a lot of help with this thread because inevitably there will come a point where suggestions will need to be evaluated for their usefulness/appropriateness and I don't think that I can be the sole judge of that . Also , there should be suggestions as to how to best present the information , link to goolge and other search engines and so on. This is Trieb's site, he decides what happens here . But maybe we can help him fund it, a little add revenue wouldn't go amiss. So , all help appreciated.

One of my favourites, http://xp-antispy.org/, im still looking for english ver, already found german setup, and spanish setup, sure you will find english xd

This less than 800 Kb, are great for tweaking win XP, no more dialogs like (your equip is in risk, please click here), and a bunch of features more.

I will add those posted recommendations tomorrow I hope or when I have time . trieb, old chap, I think you have a lot of knowledge regarding servers, running and administrating a server and so on. Maybe you could pass on some of the stuff you use/used to make OMS world No 1. Server side stuff. Sucky sucky No 1. Did I really say that :D

Added above suggestions and allmyapps . Bet you thought I had given up :p I am going to shamelessly promote this thread in other threads . Also, if any of you ahve looked at any of the above links , it would be good if you ahd comments, good or bad, on the apps/sites etc .

Added a-squared free (http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/), an anti malware/anti-virus freebie .

Also added Secunia (http://secunia.com/vulnerability_information/) , a useful app that scans your pc to tell you what programs/apps have not got the latest available patches such as flash player, adobe reader etc etc . You can do an online scan HERE (http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/online/) or download it to your PC HERE (http://secunia.com/vulnerability_scanning/personal/) free. I have it installed and running in background . I bet you all find something that isn't patched with the latest security patch .

ps. If any of you use anything from the posted links (especially if you hadn't used or known of it before) please make some comment about your impressions etc of the application/program .

Tried the biggest (355MB) Portableapps on a 8GB USB stick.
Its speed is limited by the speed of USB2.0 and thats friggin' slow if you want to do something like start up FireFox.
Anyway I tried it three times, and got with it three BSOD's.

Gonna rate it -5.....equals to SHITE. :haxor:

Hmm, I have been using it for 3 years or more without any problems at all . You are right, it takes a while to install (like an hour) onto the USB stick and it is limited by the read and write speed of usb 2.0 when loading an app like firefox but once started it is ok . I find it useful when using work machines that I don't want to leave stuff on. I can use firefox instead of IE if I want to on machines without it installed , and have all my bookmarks and plugins . Haven't had a problem using it on countless machines in a large corporation . Stick with it . Have you tried it on a different machine ? There is another similar suite for portable devices but I can't remember the name :) I guess with more and more online storage available to people (25 gb with windows live ) usb and portable storage in general will become less important . What I like tho is being able to use it on a work machine and leave no trace of what I was doing on it behine me .

another idea for you Dr D to make the first post of this thread a sticky onm its own with the rest replys so its at top on own so that its easyer to view and its the first thing anyone on here see also close thread as well.........

anymore posts then can be done by starting a new thread ect you know what i mean?

DrDeath

Tips/tricks-thread closed and made it a sticky so DrD can still edit his own openingspost.
